Scholarships for the 2022–2023 Tubingen-South Africa Program at Stellenbosch University (Fully Funded)

 Applications from eligible South African scholars who are interested in taking part in a program that would introduce them to German culture and language are now being accepted by the Stellenbosch University Tubingen-South Africa Program.  

Through the Tübingen-South Africa Program, a cultural and linguistic exchange initiative, scholars from South Africa can get a taste of German language and culture.

Additionally, it aims to strengthen ties and mutual understanding between South Africa and Germany.

Information about the Stellenbosch University Tubingen-South Africa Program


In a curriculum designed to give students a comprehensive base of knowledge in fascinating fields like language, history, and economics, students spend a month in Tübingen.

Students also take part in field trips and tourist excursions, making for an engaging four weeks of varied literacy.

18 scholars from the initial partner universities of Tübingen are given the opportunity to continue participating in the program on a regular basis. The other equivalent universities, mentioned separately from SU, are the universities of Cape Town, KwaZulu-Natal, Johannesburg, Witwatersrand, Pretoria, and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. 

If you enjoy taking part in group discussions and activities, you make a great candidate. You must also be a superb representative of South Africa.

Admission requirements for South Africa's Stellenbosch University in Tubingen


Applicants to the Stellenbosch University Tubingen-South Africa Program must meet the requirements listed below: 

Applicants must be enrolled full-time at SU in a program. 
The second year of study at the very least is required for applicants. 
possess a global average of 60%, have never traveled abroad, be South African citizens, be able to travel to Germany in January, and have a current South African study visa.

Successful candidates for the Stellenbosch University Tubingen-South Africa Program will receive the following advantages:

  • Expenses related to official outings and industrial tours, including hotel, meals, and transportation 

You must cover the following expenses as part of your donation: 

  • enrollment/administration fees
  • any visa application courier fees
  •  travel inside South Africa to and from the nearest airport
  • weekend meals 
  • and spending money (we recommend taking between €350 and €400).
