Eligibility Criteria Requirements for Government of Ireland Scholarships 

For Master's and Doctoral Scholarships Presented by the Government of Ireland in All Disciplines, candidates must fulfill the requirements listed below:

  • English is a necessary language. 
  • Every nation on earth is qualified. 
  • It is necessary to have a first-class or upper-second-class honors bachelor's degree or its (equivalent). The Council may provide a temporary scholarship offer if undergraduate test results are not yet available at the time of application, with the requirement that the scholar earn first class or upper second-class honors in their bachelor's degree program, or an equivalent. If a scholar does not hold a first- or upper-second-class honours bachelor's degree or the equivalent, they are required to hold a master's degree. The choice of the Council 
  • Based on these considerations, the determination of an applicant's eligibility is final. 
  • The candidate cannot have submitted two unsuccessful applications for preceding schemes, including those with programmatic strategic partners.
  • The candidate must have been officially approved by the relevant department or school and be a first-time applicant for the degree for which they are applying. 
  • A candidate for a research master's scholarship cannot currently be receiving or have recently received a Council Postgraduate Scholarship. 
  • In order to be eligible for a PhD scholarship, applicants must not presently hold or have ever had any Council Postgraduate Scholarships that do not allow them to pursue a research master's degree. 
  • Applicants will be divided into one of two groups according to their residency and nationality.
  • contenders for category I have to fulfill BOTH of the following conditions: have lived regularly in an EEA member state or Switzerland for three of the five years prior to October 1st AND be a citizen of an EEA member state or Switzerland.

  • As instructed, complete the relevant registration form. When you are finished, click the "submit" button at the bottom of the page to finish the registration process. The email address you provided will get an email with a confirmation link. This email validates your online system registration and gives you a login and password. 
  • Using the provided login credentials, you should access the system after receiving your username and password.
  • You will see the "home" screen shown below when you first log into the online system. From there, you can create and update your application before the applicant deadline and then submit it.
